collaboration with Leslie Samson-Tabakin
Leslie and I began our collaborated for a 2024 portfolio project titled I am Not a Robot, which asked “What does it mean to be human and make art by hand?”
Working together in the studio, each of us created an element/layer of the print and then handed the work to the other to respond to adding, shifting, adjusting. We completed two prints for the project, and continued our collaboration in spring of 2026, with the completion of two more works.
The subjects in these prints comes from the gardens of our respective homes (Seattle and San Francisco), that we each tend and cherish. Gardening and printmaking share the experience of marking, shaping and cultivating with our hands. In our work together, we embraced drawing, close observation, zooming in on a moment, visual poetry, actual poetry, color, and opportunities for precision.
